Dr. Matt Heinz is an attending physician at Tucson Medical Center, a former state legislator and former senior official at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Elected to the Arizona state house in 2008, Dr. Heinz served two terms and was chosen by his Democratic colleagues to serve as Democratic Whip. In the legislature, he co-authored and passed Bobbie’s Law with Republican Rep. Kate Brophy McGee, giving more low-income women diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer access to life-saving medical care.

From 2013 to 2015, Dr. Heinz served as the Director of Provider Outreach in the Office of the Secretary at the U. S. Department of Health and Human services. At HHS, Dr. Heinz helped coordinate federal response to the Ebola virus and worked closely with healthcare providers implementing the Affordable Care Act.
